How to Setup a Helium Hotspot on Your Laptop

Setting up a helium hotspot on your laptop is easy. All you need to do is turn on your wifi, open the app, and scan the barcode with your phone. That’s it! You can now connect to that network and share its internet with any device in range of the router. There are 4 ways to set up a helium hotspot according to tech blog, and we’ll walk you through the method that works best for most people.

Method 1: The QR code

The QR code

When you open the app, it will automatically search for nearby networks and bring up a QR code. This is useful if your phone can’t connect to or find the network by name.

To scan the QR code, click on your phone’s camera icon and point it at the barcode. The app should automatically read it and take you through a series of steps to get things set up.

The app should automatically take you through a series of steps to get your phone connected to the hotspot. Just follow the steps on screen until they finish, then go back into your phone settings and turn off the wifi signal that was turned on when you set up the helium app.

Method 2: Using your phone’s WiFi hotspot mode

If you’d rather not have to download an app, there are other ways to set up a helium hotspot without it. You can do so by turning on your phone’s built-in wifi hotspot feature. This will allow you to share the phone’s internet connection with other devices. To do this, go to your phone’s settings, select “more networks,” then turn on the hotspot option. Look at this website for more details.

Once you’ve done so, you’ll be able to connect any device in range of your phone’s wifi signal and share it with it.

Method 3:  Sharing your phone’s existing network

If your laptop is already connected to a wifi signal, you can share it with other devices and turn it into a helium hotspot. All you need to do this is press the Wifi buttons on your keyboard. Once you’ve done this, select “Turn sharing on.” This will create another wifi connection that can be used to connect other devices. You’ll then see a list of wifi networks that your device is connected to. Click on the dropdown arrow next to the one you’re using, select “Broadcast network,” and hit “Ok.” Then, go back into your phone’s settings and turn off the wifi signal that was turned on when you set up the helium app.

Method 4: Using a Virtual Router

Virtual routers are programs you can install on Windows, MacOS, or Linux computers to share your internet connection with other devices. You can turn this into a helium hotspot by enabling it after following the steps needed to set up the virtual router. While there are several different kinds of virtual routers available, we’ll be showing you how to use a Virtual Router feature that’s built into Windows. To do this, go to Control Panel and select “Network and Internet.” From there, choose “Set up a new connection or network,” then click on the “Set up a virtual private network (VPN) connection” option.

The setup process is simple and only takes a few minutes. Once you’ve scanned the QR code on your phone, it will redirect to another set of steps that prompts you to enter some information about yourself as well as give permission for helium’s app access. The final step in this process is selecting which WiFi network from your list of saved networks you want to share with your device via hotspot mode. You’ll know if everything worked when the “hotspot successfully created” message pops up on both devices!
